Hon. Akinola Martins’ Vision for a Better Ife Central: A Declaration of Intent

DECLARATION OF INTENT

With a deep sense of responsibility, honour, and commitment to the people, I, Akinola Martins formally declares my intention to contest as a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, representing Ife Central Constituency.

Driven by the conviction that the time has come for purposeful, youth-driven leadership, I step forward to serve, empower, and lead the people toward sustainable development, unity, and shared prosperity.

MY PERSONAL BACKGROUND AND HERITAGE
Akinola Martins hails from the historic Ile-Aka compound in Enuwa, Ile-Ife, Osun State. I share deep ancestral ties with the Ile-Aka, Ijaroa, and Ile-Alasa lineages, families that maintain a strong bond and communal unity, demonstrated through their regular joint meetings held every three months. This heritage has instilled in me a profound respect for tradition, collective responsibility, and community leadership.

MY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY AND PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE
Akinola Martins began my academic pursuit at St. Mary Nursery and Primary School, Lagere, Ile-Ife, where I built a solid educational foundation. I proceeded to Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School, also in Lagere, Ile-Ife, for my early secondary education.

Driven by a passion for academic excellence, I continued my studies at the prestigious School of Science, Ile-Ife, where I obtained my Senior Secondary School Certificate. My quest for higher knowledge led me to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, where I earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics.

Further strengthening my professional capacity, I’m a certified expert in Data Governance and Strategy, equipping me with modern analytical and strategic skills essential for leadership and development in today’s data-driven world.

MY PROFESSIONAL CAREER AND LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
I’m a seasoned professional and administrator. I currently serves as the General Manager of Avid Empire Nigeria Limited & USA, where I’ve demonstrated exceptional leadership, operational efficiency, and strategic oversight across international business engagements.

My career reflects a blend of analytical expertise and people-centered leadership, making me well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to both economic growth and community development.

MY PHILANTHROPY AND SOCIAL IMPACT: MOTHERLAND SUPPORT FOUNDATION
As the President of the Motherland Support Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO), I’ve committed myself to improving the lives of vulnerable populations within the community.

The foundation focuses on supporting elderly women, the less privileged, and persons living with disabilities. Through structured programs, beneficiaries receive essential medical tests, treatments, and financial assistance. Where necessary, the foundation intervenes directly in medical bills to ensure individuals regain and maintain good health.
Beyond healthcare, the foundation also provides financial and emotional support, ensuring that marginalized individuals feel valued, included, and empowered. This initiative has significantly improved the well-being of many families and strengthened community solidarity.

MY YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND SPORTS ENGAGEMENT
I’ve played a pivotal role in youth development through sports and empowerment initiatives. I serve as the General Manager of the OJAJA II Principal Cup, a football competition organized under the authority of the Ooni of Ile-Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

This competition, which brings together over 30 teams across Ife Central and beyond, serves as a unifying platform for young people. It promotes discipline, teamwork, and positive engagement, steering youths away from social vices and encouraging them to pursue purposeful lives.

Under my leadership, the competition has successfully completed two consecutive seasons, attracting over 10,000 spectators in its most recent edition. The event has also drawn participation from notable personalities who inspire and mentor young athletes, reinforcing the importance of unity and self-development.

MY COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION
Through my various initiatives, I’ve consistently demonstrated a commitment to grassroots development. My empowerment programs have positively impacted youths, helping them redirect their energy toward productive and meaningful pursuits.

By addressing issues of idleness and waywardness, my initiatives have contributed to a safer, more progressive community. My efforts have brought smiles to the faces of the elderly, uplifted the less privileged, supported persons with disabilities, and created opportunities for young people to thrive.

Akinola Martins strongly believes that the time has come for a new generation of leadership driven by innovation, inclusiveness, and accountability. With my academic background, professional experience, and grassroots engagement, I’ve committed to leading with integrity and purpose. I envision a society where unity, empowerment, and sustainable development are at the forefront, where every individual, regardless of status, has the opportunity to succeed and contribute meaningfully.
