Osun Assembly Passes Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management System Bill, 2026

The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Osun State Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management Bill, 2026 into law through its third reading during plenary.

The passage, followed the House consideration of the bill after it had earlier sailed its second reading, where lawmakers extensively deliberated on the need to establish a structured framework for managing motor parks, garages, traffic, and transport-related activities across the state.

The bill, sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport, Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, seeks to provide a comprehensive management system for the state transport sector, particularly in the areas of motor parks administration, traffic management and revenue collections.

During the earlier debate on the bill, the sponsor explained that the proposed legislation would help regulate revenue from motor parks, block leakages in the state Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) and provide a more accountable system for collecting and managing transport-related revenues.

The bill also seeks to promote the digitalization of the ticketing system and establish a more organized structure for operating motor parks across the state. It further provides measures to curb thuggery, violence, extortion, and other unlawful activities associated with motor parks and garages operations in the state.

Lawmakers also stressed the importance of maintaining order and safety within motor parks and garages, particularly in the light of recent disputes over the control and management of some parks across the state.

After concluding the legislative processes and considering the Bill provisions, the House proceeded to its third reading meaning its eventual passage into law for the benefits of the people and the state at large.

Following its passage, according to the Speaker, the final copy of the Bill will be transmitted to the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for his assent.

The passage marks another step by the Osun State House of Assembly towards providing a legislative framework for more coordinated, integrated, transparent and orderly management of the state transport and parks system.

The Assembly thereafter adjourned its legislative activities.
