Governor Adeleke Promises Swift Resolution to LG Crisis Following Party Vote of Confidence

Osun Stakeholders from the Accord and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) have unanimously endorsed the appointment of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Osun State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shetima Presidential Campaign Council.

The stakeholders, which includes all top leaders of the two parties across the state, also reaffirmed the position of the governor that the partnership with the All Progressives Congress (APC) is strictly for the presidential election.

All coalition partners are to work separately for their legislative candidates with the governor vowing to lead the campaigns for Accord candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and the House of Assembly.

The stakeholders further requested immediate resolution of the local government crisis to alleviate grassroots suffering and activate statewide mobilisation for the re-election of Mr Prasident.

While applauding the appointment of Mr Governor as state coordinator, the stakeholders appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen the capacity of the governor to discharge his responsibilities by resolving the local government crisis.

The meeting attended by both the PDP state chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi and the Accord State Chairman, Hon. Victor Akande adopted several strategies for the re-election of Mr President while also mandating the governor to ensure the election of Accord candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly.

Governor Adeleke had earlier briefed the stakeholders on his appointment as the state coordinator as well as progress made so far on the local government crisis.

The governor who appreciated President Tinubu for recognising his state leadership told the stakeholders that all required steps have been activated to ease challenges of campaigning and delivering for the re-election of President Tinubu.

He specifically referenced the local government crisis and declared that the grassroots governance will soon be restored and normalised.

“I want to assure Osun people that the local government crisis is about to be resolved. We should expect the good news.

“Mr President is committed to finding lasting solutions. We are not abandoning the grassroots. We recognise that resolution is critical for our electoral preparations”, the governor told the stakeholders.

On the forthcoming elections, the governor categorically declared that the alliance with the APC is solely on the presidential elections, promising to stand by and campaign for Accord candidates in the 2027 elections.

According to the governor, there is no deal to share legislative seats with the APC, declaring “I would never trade away Accord candidates in next year’s legislative elections.

“Our deal is for the re-election of President Tinubu at the presidential elections. Each coalition partner is to campaign for their legislative candidates. As for me, I will campaign for Accord candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly”.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the state government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon Kazeem Akinleye, state lawmakers, members of the state executive council, special advisers, local government chairmen, legislative candidates and Party leaders from across the 30 local governments.
