It was a day filled with warmth, purpose, and a shared commitment to making the world a little better, as students, volunteers, and community leaders gathered at Obafemi Awolowo University to celebrate this year’s Good Deed Day.

The event marked an important milestone, eight years of impacting lives across Nigeria and 20 years of inspiring generosity around the world.

Hosted by the founder of Glorious Child of Hope Foundation, Mr Adetola Olugbenga Bamidele, the gathering brought together people from different walks of life, united by one simple idea: that small acts of kindness can truly make a big difference.

With the theme “Kindness matters for me to matter. Let us unite to do good,” The event wasn’t just about talking. It was about doing. Participants shared real-life stories, connected with one another, and took part in activities designed to uplift others. From heartfelt testimonies to interactive sessions, every moment reminded attendees that kindness is not just an idea but a responsibility.

In his remarks, the host, Mr Bamidele, spoke passionately about the power of collective effort. He encouraged everyone present to play their part, no matter how small, in building a more caring and compassionate society. His message was clear: change doesn’t always start big it starts with simple, intentional actions.

The success of the event was also made possible through strong partnerships, including support from the Medicinal Plants Club, Glorious Child of Hope Foundation, Nigerian Red Cross, OAU Open Detachment, LifePort Hub (FeedDFuture), SDA Lifestyle Centre, Cedar social & community impact, ZIBE Feed-Fit, the Dean, Prof. J. O. Soyinka and the Vice Dean, Dr. A. O. Adepiti both were represented by Pharm. O. J. Oladiran, the anniversary lecture by Dr. S. A. Odediran and Professor E. O. Akinkumi, a Patron of Medicinal Plants Club, OAU from Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Good Deed Day continues to show that when people come together with genuine hearts and shared intention, meaningful change is not just possible. It’s inevitable.
