‎Osun Assembly Passes UNIOSUN Amendment Bill, Awaits Governor Adeleke’s Assent

‎The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Osun “State University Establishment Amendment Bill 2026” for third reading, paving the way for its transmission to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
‎
‎The Bill was passed on Thursday, September 3, 2026, during plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, following the consideration and amendment of its provisions.
‎
‎The sitting commenced with the adoption of the Votes and Proceedings of the previous sitting. The motion for adoption was moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Adekunle Emmanuel, representing Irepodun/Ilobu State Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Olawale Oladipupo Akerele, representing Ilesa West State Constituency.

‎The business of the day subsequently commenced with a motion moved by Hon. Adekunle Emmanuel and seconded by Hon. Sikiru Akinloyè Bajepade, representing Ila State Constituency.

‎During the Committee of the Whole, lawmakers painstakingly considered the provisions of the Osun State University Establishment Amendment Law 2026 and effected the necessary amendments.
‎
‎Following the completion of the clause-by-clause consideration, the Deputy Majority Leader moved a motion for the House to resolve out of Committee of the Whole, which was seconded by Hon. Taofeek Olalekan Olayiwola, representing Ede South State Constituency.
‎
‎The title of the legislation was subsequently amended from “Osun State University Establishment Amendment Law 2026” to “Osun State University Establishment Amendment Bill 2026.”
‎
‎The Bill was thereafter read for the third time and passed by the House. With its passage, the Bill is expected to be transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his assent, subject to the completion of the necessary legislative procedures.
‎
‎The House later adjourned its sitting till Monday, September 7, 2026, following a motion moved by the Deputy Majority Leader and seconded by Hon. Taofeek Olalekan Olayiwola.
