Hashim Olawepo Throws Weight Behind Adeleke’s Re-election, Calls for Peaceful Poll

A prominent leader of the Accord Party and former presidential aspirant, Dr. Hashim Dada Olawepo, has declared his support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
In a message addressed to Accord Party members and the people of Osun State, Olawepo said his position was reached after carefully reviewing the recommendations of a seven-member committee that consulted widely with stakeholders across the state.
“The future of the Accord Party in Osun will not be determined by the actions of one individual, but by the loyalty, conviction and hard work of its members,” he said, urging members to remain steadfast despite recent political developments.
Olawepo explained that his Christian faith compels him to choose principle over bitterness, saying politics should never be driven by revenge.

According to him, the focus should no longer be on personalities but on securing a better future for both the Accord Party and Osun State.
Throwing his support behind Governor Adeleke’s second-term bid, Olawepo called on Accord Party members, supporters and all voters who believe in credible leadership to come out en masse on August 15 and vote for the incumbent governor.
He also urged all political actors to conduct themselves peacefully and appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure a level playing field for every contestant. Describing the election as a defining moment for Nigeria’s democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections, Olawepo said the eyes of the nation, and indeed the international community, would be on Osun State.
He concluded by appreciating loyal Accord members, elders and stakeholders for standing by the party despite political pressure, encouraging them to remain united and committed to democratic ideals.
