NACOS Elects Comr. Sadiq SK Zango as National President
A New Era of Strategic Leadership, Institutional Reforms, and National Inclusion Begins

The Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS), Nigeria’s foremost and most influential umbrella body for computing and information technology students across tertiary institutions, has officially elected Comr. Sadiq SK Zango as its new National President at the just concluded NACOS National Convention 2026 held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
His emergence followed extensive nationwide consultations, strategic stakeholder engagements, and a highly competitive electoral process involving delegates, chapter presidents, and student leaders from institutions across the federation.
The outcome of the convention has been widely described by observers and stakeholders as a significant moment in the evolving leadership direction of NACOS and a strong affirmation of the growing demand for purposeful, nationally balanced, and institutionally driven leadership within Nigeria’s student technology constituency.

In his acceptance address, Comr. Sadiq SK Zango described the mandate as “a victory for unity, inclusiveness, institutional progress, and the collective future of Nigerian computing students.”
According to him:
“This mandate goes beyond personal ambition. It represents the collective aspiration of Nigerian computing students for a stronger, more organized, innovative, and nationally respected NACOS. Our administration will be driven by strategic coordination, inclusiveness, institutional reforms, stakeholder engagement, and measurable impact.”
He further emphasized the urgent need to reposition NACOS into a more proactive and nationally influential institution capable of effectively engaging critical stakeholders within government, academia, industry, and the broader digital economy.

The new National President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to:
• Strengthening institutional structures and national coordination across all chapters
• Expanding opportunities in technology, innovation, research, and digital capacity development
• Promoting inclusive leadership and balanced participation across all geopolitical zones
• Deepening strategic partnerships with national and international stakeholders
• Advancing the welfare, visibility, and professional development of computing students nationwide
• Positioning NACOS as a stronger voice within Nigeria’s evolving technology and youth development ecosystem
Stakeholders at the convention noted that his emergence reflects a broader shift towards leadership built on competence, consultation, coordination, and national acceptability, particularly at a time when technology and digital innovation continue to shape the future of Nigeria’s youth population.
Comr. Sadiq SK Zango previously served as the National Vice President (International Affairs) of NACOS and has remained actively involved in student leadership, youth mobilization, institutional engagement, and national stakeholder coordination across different levels.
The convention brought together delegates, technology stakeholders, chapter executives, student leaders, and observers from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria, reaffirming NACOS’ strategic position as one of the largest and most organized student technology bodies on the African continent.
Political observers and stakeholders within the student constituency have expressed optimism that the new leadership will usher in a more stable, inclusive, and strategically coordinated era capable of strengthening NACOS’ national relevance and long-term institutional influence.
