The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, has extended warm felicitations to Christians across Lagos East Senatorial District and Nigeria on the occasion of Easter 2026. He congratulated the faithful on the successful completion of the Lenten season, a period of 40 days of fasting, prayer, and reflection, culminating in the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.
Senator Oyewumi highlighted the significance of Easter, describing it as a season that reminds humanity that darkness is temporary and light will ultimately prevail, renewing resilience and hope. He emphasized that Christ’s ultimate sacrifice teaches that true progress requires selflessness, prioritizing the welfare of others, and a commitment to service above self.
He urged Christians to embrace love, forgiveness, humility, and perseverance, using this season as a period of spiritual reflection and renewal. He reminded Nigerians that the life, death, and resurrection of Christ remain the foundation of Christian faith and a seal of hope for believers.
The Senator called on all citizens to work together to build a harmonious, peaceful, and inclusive society. Quoting scripture, he said: “Follow peace with all men…”, highlighting that national unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence are essential for societal progress.
In line with this spirit of service and unity, Senator Oyewumi encouraged citizens to support and pray for Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke Imole, recognizing his leadership and dedication to the welfare of the people. He urged everyone to embrace peace, service, and love in their daily lives as a contribution to national progress.
He concluded by praying for divine intervention in the nation’s affairs and for blessings upon all families. He encouraged Nigerians to celebrate responsibly, enjoy a stress-free holiday, and use the message of Christ’s resurrection to foster peace, unity, and prosperity throughout the country.
