INEC transfers Osun REC to Ondo

The Independent National Electoral Commission has transferred the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Osun State, Mutiu Agboke, to Ondo State.

Agboke announced the move in a message shared on the official Osun INEC WhatsApp group late on Wednesday.

He said, “I have been transferred to Ondo State. I thank you most sincerely for the support given to me throughout my stay here in Osun State. May God Almighty support you all as well.”

The transfer comes as preparations for the 2026 Osun governorship election gain momentum.

In one of his last official activities as Osun REC, Agboke met election stakeholders on Tuesday from Ife North, Ife Central, Ife East, Atakunmosa West, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West Local Government Areas.

During the engagement, he reiterated that the directive to suspend the voter revalidation exercise came from INEC’s national headquarters and remains binding.

He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility for national development and said the meeting aimed to foster dialogue, build trust, and gather firsthand information on challenges that could affect a smooth election.

Key issues raised included voter apathy, logistical constraints, and the need for adequate security.
