Grassroots Media Team Hosts Information Commissioner, Hails Members as ‘Soldiers in the Battlefield’

The Grassroots Media Team, popularly known as Aseyori Imole Osun, on Saturday held its 6th edition of its conference, hosting the Osun State Commissioner for Information, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, who commended the group’s commitment to promoting government activities and countering misinformation.

Speaking at the conference, Alimi described members of the media team as “soldiers in the battlefield,” recognizing their strategic role in the digital information space. He praised their consistent online engagement, noting that their efforts have significantly helped in demystifying opposition narratives and keeping the public well informed.

According to the Commissioner, the importance of social media in modern governance cannot be overstated. He emphasized that platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok have become indispensable tools for information dissemination. Alimi further remarked that despite what he described as a “stubborn opposition” bent on spreading falsehoods for political advantage, the team’s online presence has effectively neutralized such misinformation while projecting the achievements of the state government.

Delivering a keynote address at the event, Olalekan Badmus spoke extensively on strategies for effective online marketing and promotion of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke. He urged members to maintain professionalism and decorum, especially during the campaign season, stressing that political advocacy should not involve the denigration of others.
