Empowering Police with Proceeds of Crime is Criminality – Osun Accord Hits APC

The APC Yes/No illegally-reinstated APC council executives, whom the party desperately parades, lack the moral and legal standing to embark on any initiative involving public resources. What the APC celebrates as support for security is, in reality, a dangerous precedent where questionable authority meets questionable funding, all wrapped in a desperate bid for political relevance.

Empowering Police with Proceeds of Crime is Criminality – Osun Accord Hits APC

The Osun State chapter of the Accord finds it both disturbing and disgraceful that the APC has now descended to openly defending what clearly amounts to the institutionalisation of illegality under the guise of “security support.”

Let it be stated without ambiguity that empowering the police with proceeds of crime is not patriotism, it is criminality dressed in borrowed robes. No amount of propaganda can whitewash an act that fundamentally violates both law and conscience.

It is pathetic that the APC, a party notorious for its history of administrative recklessness and disregard for due process, with its political actors superintending over systemic decay, now pretends to have discovered a sudden love for public safety.

Security is too serious a matter to be reduced for scoring political goals. When due process is ignored and illegality is repackaged as governance, what you get is not safety but chaos waiting to happen. The police, as a respected national institution, must not be dragged into the murky waters of partisan illegitimacy.

As a pro-people political party, the Accord rejects, in totality, this shameful narrative being pushed by the APC. Governance is not a circus where anything goes as long as it is loudly defended. What the APC has demonstrated is a complete absence of law, procedure, and moral burden, coupled with an alarming eagerness to normalise impunity.

Osun people deserve seriousness, not this parade of confusion and arrogance. If the APC has run out of ideas, it should not resort to distorting public reasoning or glorifying illegality. No matter how loudly they shout, empowering the police with proceeds of crime will remain what it is; a blatant affront to law, order, and the very security they claim to protect.
