93 Nigerians Arrested, 73  V!ctims R£scued in Major Anti-Fraud Raid in Ghana

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 93 Nigerian nationals and rescued 73 victims who were allegedly subjected to tort+re and ab¥se during a major intelligence-led operation targeting an internet fra¥d network in Accra.

In a press release dated March 9, 2026, authorities said immigration officers raided six houses at the DEVTRACO Estate in Accra, uncovering what they described as a sophisticated cyber-fra¥d operation where victims were allegedly being held against their will.

Out of the 93 suspects arrested, 91 are male and two are female. All are facing charges related to alleged involvement in internet fra¥d and immigration offences.

During the raid, officers recovered several items believed to have been used to run the fra¥d scheme, including 82 laptops, 57 mobile phones, 17 television sets, counterfeit US dollars and fake gold bars.

Preliminary investigations revealed that some of the suspects entered Ghana through unapproved border routes, while others allegedly overstayed their 90-day visa-free entry.

Under Ghana’s Human Traff+cking Act, offenders risk between five and 20 years imprisonment, while cases involving children or aggravating circumstances may attract life sentences.

Authorities also noted that entering the country through unapproved routes or overstaying a visa is a cr+minal offence under the Immigration Act, punishable by fines and prison terms ranging from three months to two years upon conviction.
